Ottawa – Seven acute hepatitis have been reported over a six-month period at one of Canada’s major children’s hospitals. Acute hepatitis occurs when the liver function is impaired for less than six months. It  becomes chronic when inflammation lasts longer. Ten such cases in children were first reported in Scotland in April. The WHO reported 348 probable cases of acute hepatitis in children in various regions of the world.
