Ottawa – Melanie Joly, Foreign Affairs Minister spoke to her counterpart from the Dominican Republic, Roberto Alvarez. The two discussed the situation of the detained Canadians. She said: “We remain directly engaged and are treating the situation as a top priority. Canada was also delighted to assist in freeing the trapped miners.”
