California – A new study shows people with a history of certain mental illnesses may be at a higher risk of Covid-19 infections after being vaccinated. The study, done by University of California San Francisco, looked at data from 263,697 fully vaccinated patients. They accessed health care from the US Departments of Veterans Affairs between February 2020 and November 2021. They published their findings in the journal JAMA Network Open and found that for patients under 65, the risk of developing a Covid-19 breakthrough infection was up to 11 per cent higher for those who had been diagnosed with a psychiatric condition.
