Prime Minister Mark Carney will name his new federal cabinet on Tuesday, continuing his goal of maintaining gender balance. The cabinet will be officially sworn in at 10:30 a.m. at Rideau Hall in Ottawa by Governor General Mary Simon.
Carney became Liberal leader on March 9, and five days later, he was sworn in with a streamlined 24-member cabinet, significantly smaller than Justin Trudeau’s final 39-member team.
Although Carney hasn’t confirmed the size of his upcoming cabinet, it’s expected to expand slightly to include some newly elected MPs.

Parliament Resumes May 26
Lawmakers will return to the House of Commons on May 26, just 28 days after the federal election—one of the fastest transitions in Canadian history.
Although Carney became prime minister on March 14, he was only elected to Parliament on April 28. He’s promised a fast legislative start.
