James Anderson, the former fast bowler of England, has been awarded a knighthood in former Prime Minister Rishi Sunak’s Resignation Honours List.
The 42-year-old Anderson retired from Test cricket in July 2024, and with 704 wickets, he remains the most successful fast bowler in Test cricket history. Only spinners Muttiah Muralitharan (800) and Shane Warne (708) have more wickets than him.
Richard Thompson, Chairman of the England and Wales Cricket Board, expressed, “A big congratulations to Sir Jimmy Anderson. This honor is fully deserved for an English legend. His skill, determination, and sportsmanship have inspired cricketers and fans across England and the world.”
The England Cricket Board’s official account posted congratulating James Anderson: “Sir Jimmy Anderson, you deserve this.”
