US President Donald Trump described India’s recent airstrikes in Pakistan and Pakistan-administered Kashmir as shameful.
Speaking to reporters at the White House on May 6, Trump said he had just been briefed on the escalation and expressed deep concern.
He urged both India and Pakistan to show restraint and avoid further escalation.
Indian Airstrikes:
On May 6, India launched “Operation Sandur,” targeting nine locations in Pakistan and Pakistan-controlled Kashmir.
Indian officials claim these were terrorist hideouts and said no Pakistani military installations were attacked.
India stated the action was in response to the recent attack in Pahalgam, where 26 tourists were killed.
Pakistan’s Response:
Pakistan gave a strong response to what it called Indian aggression.
Security sources confirmed that the Pakistan Air Force shot down two Indian fighter jets, including a Rafale.
Additionally, the Pakistan Army destroyed a key Indian brigade headquarters in the Dudhnial sector along the Line of Control.
Prime Minister’s Reaction:
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif called an emergency meeting of the National Security Committee.
The meeting was held at 10 a.m. with top military and security leadership in attendance.
They discussed India’s actions, national defense, and Pakistan’s strategic response.
