US President Donald Trump is not giving up his fight with Elon Musk, and today he declared that he has no desire to improve that relationship and warned that his former ally and financier could face “serious consequences” if he tried to help the Democrats in the upcoming elections.
In a telephone interview with the American television network, Trump said that he has no plans to reconcile with Musk.
When asked if he thought his relationship with the multibillionaire Tesla and SpaceX CEO was over, Trump said he assumed it was.
“I’m too busy with other things. You know, I won the election by a wide margin. I gave him a lot of space, long before this happened. I gave him space in my first administration and saved his life, I have no intention of talking to him,” Trump said.
He added that Musk could support Democratic representatives in Congress in the 2026 elections, which are traditionally held halfway through each US president’s term.
“If he does that, he will have to bear the consequences,” said Trump, who did not want to give details of what those consequences would be. Musk’s companies have many lucrative federal contracts.
The AP agency assesses that it seems from Trump’s statements that Musk is turning from a close ally into his potential new target.
It is known that the American president knows how to use his powers to deal with critics and those he perceives as enemies.
Musk’s companies could be the subject of some retaliation from Trump, and the US president has already threatened to terminate some of Musk’s contracts after mutual criticism and spat on social media on Thursday.
Earlier today, Musk deleted several offensive comments he had previously posted on his social network X (formerly Twitter), including one that linked Trump to sexual predator Epstein.
