Ontario – The initiative from the management of Radio 770AM to raise funds for Pakistan flood victims has received an overwhelming response. The initiative has been started to express solidarity with the people and the government of Pakistan as one-third of the country has been completely submerged by unprecedented moonsoon rains that triggered floods in the country.
The call was made a few days back and donors were asked to bring in non-perishable food items at the studios, located at 5359 Timberlea Blvd, Unit 28, Mississauga,Ontario. Alternatively, to save people the hassle of buying food items, making boxes and then dropping at the studios, community was advised to pay online at firstname.lastname@example.org. Super Asia Foods will make packages according to the amount received and directly send to PIA for transporting to Pakistan.
It is worth noting that Super Asia Foods is offering food items at half price for this purpose. The store is located at 8905 Hwy 50, unit 7, Vaughan, Ontario. This is the first round. In the second round, the Radio 770AM team will gather clothes, especially warm jackets, sweaters, socks, blankets and other clothing to help people in Pakistan wade away intense winter.
The management is thankful to Mr Haroon Khan for taking this initiative forward and liaising with PIA to take the cargo free of charge to Pakistan. The items will be deliverd to Pakistan Air Force and items will be distributed to the most deserving under their supervision. The management also thanked Pakistan Armed Forces for standing with the nation at this critical juncture. Lastly, it thanked the community for responding to the station’s collective effort to highlight the impact of this disaster in Pakistan.
Note: Attached is the initial list of donors. More will be added as and when updates are received from Super Asia Foods.
