Saint John – The food and beverage processing industry is the second largest manufacturing industry in Canada. Crosby Molasses Company Ltd., a leading Canadian food manufacturer based in Saint John, New Brunswick, is receiving an operational boost from the Government of Canada to support its continued growth and contribute to the economic well-being of the Atlantic region.
Federal investment supports growth
Today, Wayne Long, Member of Parliament for Saint John – Rothesay, announced investments in two projects with Crosby Molasses Company Ltd. totalling $550,000 through the Regional Economic Growth through Innovation (REGI) program. The announcement was made on behalf of Ginette Petitpas Taylor, Minister of Official Languages and Minister responsible for ACOA.
Arlene Dunn, Minister responsible for Economic Development and Small Business and Minister responsible for Opportunities New Brunswick (ONB), also announced a contribution of $250,000 on behalf of the Province of New Brunswick. This investment is helping the company purchase specialized equipment and hire a Supply Chain Manager to lead supply chain improvements and growth. These projects will allow the company to grow its contract manufacturing business, increase production capacity by 15 percent, and expand its customer base in Canada.
Today’s announcement further demonstrates the Government of Canada’s commitment to help businesses and organizations who are innovating and seeking new opportunities to adapt and grow.
