Brampton – Performing Arts Brampton is hosting its final presentation of the 2022/2023 Centre Stage program in which local youth spent several months learning from industry professionals. In this final showcase presentation, youth performers will entertain audiences with dance, theatre, music and more.
Centre Stage is a free training program for young artists from Brampton and beyond, who are passionate about their artistic work, and are ready to challenge how they define and engage with the performing arts.
This year, participants engaged in professional development and mentorship workshops with industry professionals, many of whom have all developed their skills and careers in Brampton, including Acting with Yolanda Bonnell, Entrepreneurship with Ian Keteku, Movement with Jade Jager Clark, Storytelling with Sharada Eswar, and Voice with Darryn de Sousa.
A total of 17 Brampton and Peel based youth who excel in acting, dancing, singing and performing have been workshopping their final pieces under the guidance of Performing Arts Brampton’s Executive Artistic Director, Steven Schipper, who has 50 years of experience as a theatre director and has received the Order of Canada.
This year’s showcase will offer something for everyone, with an afternoon performance for school groups and a free public performance later in the evening that will feature the next generation of talent.
