Seoul – Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau paid tribute at the grave of Frank Schofield. He said: “About 53 years ago, Frank Schofield became the first foreigner to be buried in the Seoul National Cemetery. Today, we honoured this brave Canadian – and paid our respects to all of the heroes and patriots buried there. May their service and sacrifice never be forgotten.“ A British-born Canadian physician and missionary, Schofield filmed footage of the March First Independence Movement in 1919 and disseminated it to the world. After his death in 1970, he became the first foreign national in Korea to be buried at a national cemetery.
