Ottawa – Anita Anand, Minister of National Defence, congratulated Jens Stoltenberg, Nato Secretary General, after he was given extension. She said: “You have been an outstanding Secretary General of Nato – and I look forward to our ongoing collaboration. Canada will continue to make important contributions to our alliance, and to support Ukraine for as long as it takes.“ Earlier Stoltenberg said: “Honoured by Nato Allies’ decision to extend my term as Secretary General until October 1, 2024. The transatlantic bond between Europe and North America has ensured our freedom and security for nearly 75 years, and in a more dangerous world, our Alliance is more important than ever.“
