OTTAWA – Nike has said in a statement that it is permanently ending its sponsorship of Hockey Canada, after it temporarily paused its support for the organization. This has happened due to the backlash the sporting organisation received over its handling of allegations of sexual assaults. The statement given to media said: “Nike is no longer a sponsor of Hockey Canada. We will continue to provide on-ice product for Hockey Canada athletes as part of our partnership with the International Ice Hockey Federation, but our individual partnership with the federation has ended.”
