Federal funding will ensure continued operation of the tournament while supporting additional community events
Fort Frances – Patty Hajdu, Minister of Indigenous Services and Minister responsible for FedNor, announced a FedNor investment of $16,728 in support of the Fort Frances Canadian Bass Championship (FFCBC). Specifically, the funds will support the purchase of an event stage, which will be used throughout FFCBC events, for entertainment, weigh-ins, and prize ceremonies. The stage will include two sets of stairs, as well as skirting and safety rails. The stage will also be available for use by other not-for-profit organizations within the community.
This investment will help support the continuation of the three-day, catch-and-release bass fishing tournament, which is in its 27th year of operation, while also helping additional community organizations and events succeed.
“The Fort Frances Canadian Bass Championship sees over 1500 daily attendees every year. Thanks to the organizers and all the volunteers, thousands of people come every year to visit our beautiful region and support our local businesses. Our investment is a concrete support to the event and to the vitality of our community. We will continue to be there for the Championship because it has been a success every year for decades.” – Patty Hajdu, Minister of Indigenous Services and Minister responsible for FedNor
