Edmundston – René Arseneault, MP for Madawaska-Restigouche, announced a federal contribution of $159,682 to help la Société du Jardin Botanique du Nouveau-Brunswick modernize its greenhouse heating system. The announcement was made on behalf of Gudie Hutchings, Minister of Rural Economic Development and Minister responsible for ACOA, and Steven Guilbeault, Minister of Environment and Climate Change.

The investment will allow the New Brunswick Botanical Garden to replace the existing wood burning stove with a more efficient, clean-burning pellet boiler. This improvement will lower operating costs and enable the garden to extend the season by adding activities in the fall and early spring.

Today’s announcement highlights how the Government of Canada is contributing to Atlantic Canada’s momentum by strengthening our communities, creating new opportunities, and setting the stage for a strong, sustainable future.

“This project makes good sense for the economy and the environment. It will make sure more visitors can visit the Gardens, more often, boosting tourism and supporting good jobs for people in Edmundston.”  – Gudie Hutchings, Minister of Rural Economic Development and Minister responsible for ACOA

“Canada’s move to a sustainable economy presents us with great opportunities to invest in clean, affordable, renewable energy. Through the Low Carbon Economy Fund, we are partnering with climate leaders like the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency (ACOA) to support green energy projects in New Brunswick. Greening the New Brunswick Botanical Garden is a good example of how we’re making progress to a sustainable future, and building more resilient communities, all while reducing greenhouse gas emissions.” – Steven Guilbeault, Minister of Environment and Climate Change
