West contenders could be a fit for Matt Chapman

Ottawa – Giants, D-backs could be landing spots for Chapman. Chapman is one of the top free agents in this year’s class and is expected to get a deal close to $150 million. Could that deal come from an NL West team? MLB Network insider Jon Paul Morosi reports that the Giants and D-backs could be interested suitors for Chapman. The Giants especially seem like an optimal landing spot, given that Chapman played his first five MLB seasons with the A’s under Bob Melvin, who is San Francisco’s new manager. The D-backs, too, are in a prime position to win following their World Series appearance and have a position of need at third base.  This is not the first we’ve heard of these two teams and their connections to Chapman. MLB Network insider Jon Heyman reported last week that the Giants and D-backs are two teams known to be looking for a third baseman and could be fits for Chapman.
