Halifax – The Halifax Regional Municipality is inviting residents to its annual live New Year’s Eve celebrations, taking place on Sunday, Dec. 31 at the Emera Oval, located at the Halifax Commons 5775 Cogswell St, from 11:00 pm to 1:00 am. This will be the first time the municipal New Year’s Eve concert and national broadcast are taking place at the Oval.
This free event will include a live TV broadcast on Eastlink Community TV. Beginning at 11pm, Music Nova Scotia 2023 Entertainer of the Year winner and multi-instrumentalist Rankin MacInnis will headline the main stage. He’ll be bringing a cast of artists showing why his Winter Warmers Showcase also won Best Live Sector Event. Other musical highlights will include Lindsay Misiner and a Salute to 50 Years of Hip Hop, performed by DJs Okay TK and Grimrock, along with breakdancers, emcees and more. Celebrations will conclude with a midnight fireworks show and DJ.
Residents are also invited to attend an evening family skate from 10 p.m. to midnight on the Emera Oval. Free equipment rentals, including skates and helmets, will be available – along with select adaptive equipment. Valid ID is required for all rentals. There will be an additional skate from 7pm to 9pm, and a countdown and fireworks display at 9pm for families with young children. Halifax Transit will once again be offering free, extended service from 6 p.m. onwards on Sunday, Dec. 31. For detailed holiday service schedules by individual routes, visit halifax.ca/transit-nye. Dress warm, dance together and let’s look back at 2023 and celebrate 2024 live at the Emera Oval. Visit us at @hfxmoments on instagram for updates closer to show time.
