Minister Joly welcomes Japan’s Foreign Affairs Minister to Canada

Ottawa – Mélanie Joly, Minister of Foreign Affairs, has welcomed Yoko Kamikawa, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, to Montréal, Québec, from January 12 to 13, 2024. Canada and Japan have a long history of diplomatic relations based on strong political, economic and cultural ties, and work closely together in a number of bilateral and multilateral forums.

The Ministers will discuss the increasing importance of Canada-Japan collaboration in the areas of regional security and multilateral cooperation in a context of increasing geopolitical tensions. They will also discuss their shared commitment to advance the Women, Peace and Security agenda as well as to increase cooperation in the Indo-Pacific region through the Canada-Japan Action Plan.
