Minister Joly travels to Germany to attend Munich Security Conference

Ottawa – Mélanie Joly, Minister of Foreign Affairs, has travelled to Germany to attend the Munich Security Conference from February 16 to 18, 2024. While in Munich, Minister Joly`s emphasizing both Canada’s continued support for Ukraine in the face of Russia’s war of aggression and its efforts to strengthen the rules-based international order. She will meet with her counterparts to discuss a wide range of critical global and regional issues, including Russia’s illegal invasion and the crisis in the Middle East.

The Minister will also participate in a G7 foreign ministers’ meeting on the margins of the conference. At the meeting, she will underscore the urgent need to address the humanitarian crisis in Gaza while also advancing prospects for a two-state solution and supporting regional stability. She will again emphasize Canada’s continued support for Ukraine.
