The data on the number of confirmed measles cases in Québec is updated daily, from Monday to Friday. Measles is present in the world, in particular in Europe, Asia, the Middle East and Africa. In recent years, there have been large active measles outbreaks in several European countries and in some states in the United States. In 2023 et 2024, some cases of measles have been reported in several Canadian provinces, including in Québec.
For each measles case reported in Québec, a public health investigation is conducted in order to determine the source of the infection and to identify people who may have been exposed to the measles virus. Preventive treatment of people exposed to the measles virus can limit the spread of the disease. Those affected are either administered MMR vaccine within 72 hours of initial measles exposure, or immunoglobulin (IG) within six days of exposure.
