Hamilton – From May 6-11, 2024, workplaces across North America will celebrate Safety and Health Week to raise awareness about workplace injury and illness prevention. The national partners of Safety and Health Week – Canadian Centre for Occupational Health and Safety (CCOHS), Threads of Life and Health and Safety Professionals Canada (HSPC) – will officially launch the week on Monday, May 6 with a free virtual event.

Safety and Health Week partners Anne Tennier, President and Chief Executive Officer, CCOHS; and Shirley Hickman, Founder and Executive Director, Threads of Life will be joined by special guests to kick off the virtual event. Seamus O’Regan Jr., Minister of Labour and Seniors, will deliver greetings, and Threads of Life family speaker Brenda Duhaime will share how she was impacted by the loss of a family member due to a workplace-related tragedy. The Focus on Safety National Youth Video Contest winners will also be announced.
