Bike to Work Week
Bike to Work Week is June 16 to 22 and the City of Brampton is encouraging residents to bike to work. Residents are also encouraged to bike to work this week and share your journey on social media with the #BramptonBikeMonth.
Employers are encouraged to start their own Bike to Work Week celebrations! Contact cycling@brampton.ca for information on how to get started and to receive a swag pack for your employees!
Brampton Community Rides
The City hosts Community Rides from May to September, where residents can join a free casual cycling tour of the city. Led by citizen volunteer members of the Brampton Cycling Advisory Committee (BCAC), these group rides provide opportunities for residents and visitors to explore Brampton on their bicycles and meet other cyclists. Residents can register online at brampton.ca/communityrides.
Biking is a great way to stay active! For information on events happening during Bike Month or learn about organized bike rides and cycling events that happen all year long visit brampton.ca/cycling.
Experience Brampton’s Recreational Trails
Hike, bike, walk, run or cross-country ski along one of Brampton’s recreational trail systems, which offer more than 40 kilometres of guided and paved recreational trails throughout the city. Look for wayfinding signs along your route, and plan time to stop for new discoveries and adventures.
Want more information on our recreational trails? Check out the Brampton Cycling Map or the interactive Peel Recreational Trails Map.
Active Transportation
The Active Transportation Master Plan focuses on the implementation strategy for building a connected cycling and pedestrian network across the city (and connecting to neighbouring municipalities) to enable safer, more convenient travel by non-motorized modes, and to encourage cycling as a viable means of transportation for both recreational and utilitarian purposes for the public.
“Bike Month is a great time in our community, it provides an opportunity to get outside, be active and help limit our carbon footprint. I encourage all residents to Bike to Work the week of June 16 and I look forward to seeing everyone on their bikes throughout June!” – Patrick Brown, Mayor of Brampton
