Over $584,000 invested in community organizations on the Great Northern Peninsula

The governments of Canada and Newfoundland and Labrador continue to invest in rural communities, helping them realize their economic potential while creating new tourism opportunities and meaningful employment for residents and visitors alike.
Opportunities for tourism and economic growth
Gudie Hutchings, Minister of Rural Economic Development and Minister responsible for the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency (ACOA) announced total investments of $379,089 from the Government of Canada for three community-based projects in St. Anthony. Andrew Parsons, KC, Minister of Industry, Energy and Technology (IET), also announced a contribution of $205,472 on behalf of the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador. These investments will help renovate and expand a multi-use trail, improve capabilities for yielding fresh, locally grown produce in the region and develop visitor capacity at the St. Anthony Marina.
This announcement demonstrates the Government of Canada and Newfoundland and Labrador’s commitment to strengthening rural communities by enticing residents and visitors to stay longer and expanding the region’s tourism ecosystem.
