BRAMPTON – The City of Brampton invites residents to join us for an unforgettable evening of traditional dance, music and food at our free Community Garba event on September 20, at 7pm to 11pm at Chinguacousy Park. Garba, a joyful and energetic dance originating from Gujarat, India, is celebrated for its lively rhythms, colourful attire and the spirit of community it fosters. Traditionally performed during the nine-day Navratri festival, Garba is a dance that honours and celebrates the feminine form of divinity.

This year’s event promises to be a feast for the senses, featuring stage performances by both local and international artists, delicious food vendors offering the tastes of India and exciting activities for families. Come dressed in your finest Garba attire to take part in this celebration of Indian culture!  This event is organized in partnership with Humans for Harmony, a community organization dedicated to fostering unity through cultural events and celebrations.  The City thanks its generous sponsors, Genesis Brampton and RBC, for their support. For more information, visit Brampton.ca/garba.

“The Community Garba event is a wonderful opportunity for residents of all backgrounds to come together and celebrate the rich cultural tradition from Gurjarat. We are a living mosaic of vibrant culture in Brampton, and have a large dynamic Gujarati community in Brampton so events like these showcase the unity and diversity of our community. I’ve had the opportunity to visit Gujarat 9 times and to build our relationship with the community, and I encourage everyone to join us for an evening of dance, music and celebration as we embrace the spirit of Garba and the joy it brings.”  – Patrick Brown, Mayor, City of Brampton
