Ottawa – SS Bo Bichette (right calf strain) began rehab assignment recently.
Bichette will play in “a handful” of games with Triple-A Buffalo and is expected to see time at both shortstop and DH, manager John Schneider said. Right now, Bichette is on track to return for the Blue Jays’ series next week on the road against the Rangers, but they’ll evaluate him daily. This will be a welcome chance for Bichette to finish the season on a positive note and build some momentum into 2025.
Bichette is scheduled to play a “handful” of games between shortstop and DH. This tentatively lines Bichette up to rejoin the Blue Jays in Arlington for their Sept. 17-19 series against the Rangers. The 26-year-old Bichette injured his calf running out of the box on July 19. He had already spent time on the IL this season with a right calf strain, and he tweaked it again on July 10 in San Francisco. This time, an MRI revealed a “moderate” strain.
