Mail-in Voting applications for Ward 15, Don Valley West By-election due Oct 10

Toronto – Eligible voters in the by-election for the office of Councillor Ward 15, Don Valley West, are reminded they can apply to vote by mail and make updates to the voters’ list by 4:30pm on Thursday, October 10.

Mail-in Voting
Until 4:30pm on Thursday, October 10, eligible voters can apply to vote by mail by visiting www.toronto.ca/VoteByMail or calling 416-338-1111 and pressing 5.

Voters’ List Additions and Updates
Until 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, October 10, eligible voters can add their name to or update their information on the voters’ list by visiting www.toronto.ca/MyVote. After this time, eligible voters will have two options to add their name to the voters’ list when they go to vote in-person:

  • Advance voting on Saturday, October 26 and Sunday, October 27, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
  • Election day, Monday, November 4, from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Voter Information Cards
Eligible voters who are on the voters’ list can visit www.toronto.ca/MyVote to review, print or download a digital copy of their Voter Information Cards (VIC) to their mobile device which can be shown at the voting place along with acceptable identification.

Eligible voters who are on the voters’ list by October 10 will be mailed VICs starting on Thursday, October 17.

  • A VIC provides information about when and where to vote during advance voting or on election day
  • Eligible voters do not need a VIC to vote
  • A VIC is not an acceptable form of identification for voting purposes

Proxy applications
Eligible voters who are unable to vote by mail or vote during advance voting or on election day may appoint another eligible voter to vote on their behalf. This person is known as a voting proxy. A voting proxy must be eligible to vote in a Toronto municipal election and is someone the voter trusts to vote according to their wishes.

To receive a Voting Proxy Appointment form, email Toronto Elections at VoterRegistration@toronto.ca or visit the Toronto Elections office at City Hall or the Registry Services office at the North York Civic Centre during regular business hours from Monday to Friday.

A Voting Proxy Appointment form must be signed by both the eligible voter and proxy. Completed proxy forms must be certified by the City Clerk before 4:30 p.m. on Monday, November 4.
