Ottawa – Chrystia Freeland, Canada’s finance minister and deputy prime minister, said today she wis resigning from the cabinet, the day she was set to table her fall economic statement with key economic metrics such as the country’s deficit. Freeland wrote in a letter posted on social media: “On Friday, you told me you no longer want me to serve as your Finance Minister and offered me another position in Cabinet. Upon reflection, I have concluded that the only honest and viable path is for me to resign from Cabinet.” The rumour of her alleged split with Trudeau was in air and Monday morning made it clear.
