Ottawa -Mélanie Joly, Minister of Foreign Affairs, today announced the appointment of André François Giroux as Ambassador of Canada to Haiti. He replaces Sébastien Carrière. Canada continues to play a leadership role in the response to the ongoing political, security and humanitarian crisis in Haiti through the coordination of international security assistance, the implementation of targeted sanctions and the provision of humanitarian and development assistance to support the urgent needs of the Haitian people. Canada will continue to support Haiti and advocate for Haitian-led solutions to the current crisis in the country.
The experience Mr. Giroux has gained during his distinguished career at Global Affairs Canada will prove vital in his new role as Ambassador of Canada to Haiti as he furthers Canada’s important work with international partners and Haitian stakeholders to bring lasting peace and stability to the country.
