Ottawa – Mélanie Joly, Minister of Foreign Affairs, has announced that she will welcome Gordan Grlić Radman, Croatia’s Minister of Foreign and European Affairs, to Canada from April 11 to 14, 2023.

The ministers will meet to discuss the two countries’ shared commitments to transatlantic peace and security. This includes the provision of support to Ukraine in the face of Russia’s ongoing full-scale invasion and the efforts to maintain stability in the Balkan region. They will also discuss opportunities to continue to grow commercial ties and build on the success of the Canada-European Union Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA).

Minister Grlić Radman’s visit will take place as Canada and Croatia celebrate 30 years of diplomatic relations.

This relationship thrives on many shared priorities, including advancing human rights and safeguarding democracy, and recognizing our close people-to-people ties. The two countries have a long history of collaboration, and Minister Joly looks forward to continuing to strengthen this partnership during Minister Grlić Radman’s visit.

“As we celebrate 30 years of bilateral relations with Croatia, we reflect on our strong and growing partnership. In the face of emerging threats to global peace, now more than ever, we must strengthen our already deep bonds. I look forward to welcoming Minister Grlić Radman and discussing how our countries can work together to tackle these challenges.” – Mélanie Joly, Minister of Foreign Affairs
