Amman, Jordan – Mélanie Joly, Minister of Foreign Affairs, met with Ayman Safadi, Jordan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, in Amman, Jordan. Minister Joly thanked Minister Safadi for Jordan’s continued constructive role in the Middle East. She expressed Canada’s serious concerns over the devastating impacts of Hamas’s terrorist attack on Israel and the dire humanitarian toll on Palestinian civilians. Minister Joly and Minister Safadi engaged on the escalating violence and rapidly deteriorating humanitarian situation and they agreed that humanitarian access must be established in Gaza as soon as possible. The ministers remain committed to continue closely coordinating their efforts to help de-escalate the crisis. She said: “With the team from our mission in Jordan, we’re working together on how we can help Canadians out of the West Bank as early as next week. Very grateful for their diligent efforts and being a resource to Canadians in the region. Thank you all for your work.”
