Kuala Lumpur – Mary Ng, Minister of Export Promotion, International Trade and Economic Development, has concluded her visit to Malaysia, the first stop of the Team Canada Trade Mission to Malaysia and Vietnam. One of the key initiatives under Canada’s Indo-Pacific Strategy, the mission opened doors to key markets for a diverse group of Canadian exporters and trailblazers. She also met with her counterparts to discuss the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP), which is helping Canadian companies grow in Malaysia and promoting collaboration in the technology sector. She also talked about Canada’s commitment to strengthening commercial relations with Malaysia by building on the momentum of the trade mission, including through ongoing negotiations toward a Canada-ASEAN free trade agreement. She said: “The success and growth of trade between the two countries is undeniable, with Vietnam being Canada’s largest trading partner in ASEAN. Great to speak to Minister Dien during the Team Canada`s Trade Mission to on how we can continue working together including through the CPTPP, ASEAN, and APEC.
