Montreal – Michael Mabbott and Lucah Rosenberg-Lee’s feature doc Any Other Way: The Jackie Shane Story, a Banger Films/National Film Board of Canada (NFB) co-production, was selected to screen at the 2025 Festival international de programmes audiovisuels documentaires de Biarritz (FIPADOC) in France. The film was screened at competition in the musical documentary section of the festival, recently.
This tribute to a trans soul-singing legend has garnered over 15 awards and honours, including the DGC Special Jury Prize – Canadian Feature Documentary at Hot Docs and a nomination for Best Music Documentary at the International Documentary Association Awards. Any Other Way: The Jackie Shane Story was also named to Canada’s Top Ten, the annual list compiled by the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) celebrating the best in Canadian cinema.

- Lucah Rosenberg-Lee is a speaker, entrepreneur and filmmaker specializing in documentary and LGBTQ+ content. He has produced and directed a variety of projects including Passing and For Nonna Anna, which have screened at TIFF, Inside Out and Sundance.
