BRAMPTON – The City of Brampton proudly celebrates National Canadian Film Day on April 16 with two exciting events showcasing the creativity, talent, and cultural impact of Brampton’s film and media community. Since its launch in 2014, this annual celebration has highlighted the diverse stories and cinematic achievements that shape Canada’s identity.

This year, Brampton marks the occasion with the Brampton Film Showcase and a curated screening event, HomeBound: Cinematic Reflections of Migration and Diaspora. Both events are open to the public and free to attend with registration. Join us as we honour the power of Canadian cinema!

Brampton Film Showcase

Date: April 16
Time: 7 to 9 pm
Location: SilverCity Brampton Cinemas, 50 Great Lakes Dr.
Presented in partnership with the Brampton Arts Organization (BAO) and the City of Brampton’s Film Office, this event will feature 17 short films and videos by Brampton filmmakers. The evening includes a networking opportunity for local creatives and audiences to connect and celebrate the city’s screen-based talent.

HomeBound: Cinematic Reflections of Migration and Diaspora

Time: 6:30 to 9:30 pm
Location: Cyril Clark Theatre, 20 Loafers Lake Ln.
This film screening event will showcase short films that focus on themes of migration, belonging and identity, alongside a feature-length presentation of When Morning Comes by award-winning Brampton filmmaker, Kelly Fyffe-Marshall.
