Washington – A Centers for Disease Control and Prevention report shows the number of deaths from fake prescription medicines has increased many times with most of the people under 35. Those who died thought the oxycodone or Xanax they bought from sources other than a verified pharmacy were real. The report stated that from mid-2019 to the end of 2021, overdose-related deaths from such drugs increased twofold, from 2% to 4.7%, and 93% of all overdose-related deaths from fake pills, was illicit fentanyl.
