BRANTFORD — The Ontario government is investing nearly $16 million to complete critical upgrades and repairs at Brantford General Hospital, creating a safer, more comfortable space for people and their families to connect to care and services, close to home.
“Our government continues to make record investments in Ontario’s hospitals to ensure people across the province can access world-class care where and when they need it,” said Sylvia Jones, Deputy Premier and Minister of Health. “This investment will enable Brant Community Healthcare System to address priority infrastructure needs so patients and their families can continue to access vital services and care in their community.”
To support repairs to Brantford General Hospital’s damaged utility services tunnel, the Ontario government is providing Brant Community Healthcare system (BCHS) over $9 million in one-time funding to reroute key utility services out of the tunnel. The government is also investing $6.3 million to help the hospital replace and upgrade three failed boilers.
This new funding is in addition to the $7.3 million the government has provided to Brant Community Healthcare system’s boiler replacement project, as part of Ontario’s $229 million investment this year in infrastructure upgrades, maintenance and repairs at 129 hospitals and 58 community health care facilities across the province.
“When our community comes together, great things happen,” said Will Bouma, MPP, Brantford—Brant. “These measures to fix existing infrastructure are vital to keep the hospital running and delivering uninterrupted quality health care to the people of our region. Our government looks forward to continuing our work with Brantford General Hospital to expand access to more connected and convenient care in our community, for years to come.”
