Longueuil – On , NASA‘s OSIRIS-REx mission will deliver a sample of asteroid Bennu on Earth. Analyzing the sample could revolutionize our understanding of the solar system’s history, how our planet formed, and possibly the origin of water and life on Earth.
Sample return
Media interested in interviews with Canadian experts, including members of the Canadian science team, contacted the Canadian Space Agency’s (CSA) Media Relations Office (information below). OSIRIS-REx marks the first time Canada is participating in an asteroid sample return mission. Thanks to the CSA‘s contribution of the OSIRIS-REx Laser Altimeter (OLA), Canada will become the fifth country in the world to receive and curate a sample collected in space. This material from Bennu will be studied by generations of Canadian and international scientists.
