Brampton hosts first-ever Litter Reduction Forum

eAwazLocal News

BRAMPTON – The City of Brampton hosted its first Litter Reduction Forum to raise awareness and gain valuable feedback from stakeholders on building and enhancing litter prevention strategies in Brampton. The City of Brampton is committed to building healthier, more resilient, and more environmentally sustainable communities.

In June, Brampton City Council passed a motion for staff to work with community groups and stakeholders to review processes and coordination efforts to identify gaps in maintaining a clean city. This forum highlighted many ways the City can enhance existing programs as well as new ideas that can be implemented and lead by critical stakeholders. The City of Brampton is embarking on a goal to become Canada’s first litter-free city, and initiatives like this bring Brampton one step closer to achieving that goal. A collective charter outlining necessary actions will be developed with the input received yesterday.

The City thanks all of the residents and organizations who participated in yesterday’s discussion. It also thanks People Against Littering, a local community movement with a mission to unite, inspire and embolden citizens, who provided an informative keynote presentation to attendees on the role everyone can play in protecting the environment and keeping the city clean.  For more information on Brampton’s Grow Green program, visit https://www.brampton.ca/EN/residents/GrowGreen/Pages/Welcome.aspx
