Building New Affordable Housing In London

London – The Government of Canada, the Government of Ontario, and the City of London celebrated the launch of a new housing project, unveiling 42 affordable housing units in London. The project at 345 Sylvan Street is a three-storey brick building that was completed in July 2024. Tenants began moving into the project in early October. Operated by the London Middlesex Community Housing, this project is providing affordable and accessible homes to those who are experiencing or at-risk of experiencing homelessness.

A breakdown of funding for the housing project includes:

  • $8.8 million from the federal government under the third round of the Rapid Housing Initiative that was previously announced in 2023.
  • More than $5 million from the federal and provincial governments through the Ontario Priorities Housing Initiative (OPHI).
  • $7.8 million from the City of London, also announced in 2023.
