Canada invests in manufacturers who scale up, advance green solutions

Nine manufacturers expand capabilities to produce and/or adopt environmentally friendly technologies for a sustainable future

Etobicoke – The Government of Canada is fostering innovation in key sectors to position Canadian industries as global leaders in environmental solutions while advancing long-term sustainability goals. By investing in clean technology companies, we are driving innovation, supporting the transition to a greener economy, and reducing our environmental footprint—creating a healthier future for our families and our planet. This aligns with our commitment to achieving Canada’s net-zero targets by 2050.

Ruby Sahota, Minister of Democratic Institutions and Minister responsible for the Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario (FedDev Ontario), along with James Maloney, Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Justice and Attorney General of Canada and Member of Parliament for Etobicoke−Lakeshore; and Francesco Sorbara, Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Finance and Intergovernmental Affairs and Member of Parliament for Vaughan−Woodbridge, visited Hybrid Power Solutions Inc., which designs and manufactures fuel free and hybrid generators intended to reduce operating costs while providing significantly reduced greenhouse emissions.

While there,Minister Sahota announced a more than $19 million in investments to support nine  manufacturing companies: Chemicheck Inc.Colourific Coatings Ltd.Convertus York BiofuelC.R. Plastic ProductsHybrid Power Solutions Inc.GreenMantra TechnologiesOpta GlassPhil Mauer & Associates and Prisum Coatings Canada Inc. For more on the projects, refer to the backgrounder.

As part of this investment, Hybrid Power Solutions Inc. is receiving over $2 million to accelerate the commercialization of its fuel-free and hybrid-based power generation products and facilitate the adoption of sustainable power generation technologies.

By expanding production and embracing advanced technology, these manufacturers are creating innovative, eco-friendly solutions that power a thriving, clean economy—ensuring a healthier future for our people, communities, and planet.

The Government of Canada is supporting manufacturers transitioning to clean products and processes that are creating skilled jobs and finding solutions to modern problems. This is part of the federal government plan to build a greener economy for generations to come, contributing to Canada’s net-zero targets for 2050.
