Easter weekend in City of Brampton, Toronto

​​BRAMPTON — This year, Good Friday takes place on Friday, April 18, and Easter Monday is on Monday, April 21. Most City of Brampton offices, including City Hall, will be closed.
All essential and critical services, including Fire and Emergency Services, Traffic Services, Enforcement and By-law Services, Road Operations and Security Services will continue operating to support the community.

Service Brampton

Residents can contact Service Brampton for any City of Brampton and Region of Peel inquiries by using the Brampton 311 app (available on the App Store and Google Play), visiting 311brampton.ca​ or by dialing 3-1-1 or 905.874.2000 (outside Brampton). Service Brampton is available 24/7, with only urgent service requests handled between 12 am and 7 am. Non-urgent requests should be submitted through the app or online at 311brampton.ca​.

Brampton Transit

Brampton Transit will operate on the following service levels from April 18 to April 21:
Friday, April 18 – Good Friday 
  • ​Operating on a Sunday/Holiday schedule.
  • Customer Service counters at the terminals will be closed. The Contact Centre will be available to assist from 9 am to 6 pm at 905.874.2999.
Saturday, April 19 
  • ​Operating on a Saturday schedule.
  • Customer Service counters at the terminals will be open. The Contact Centre will be available to assist from 7 am to 7 pm at 905.874.2999.
Sunday, April 20 – Easter Sunday 
  • Operating on a Sunday/Holiday schedule.
  • Customer Service counters at the terminals will be closed. The Contact Centre will be available to assist from 9 am to 6 pm at 905.874.2999.
Monday, April 21 – Easter Monday 
  • ​Operating on a Regular Weekday schedule.
  • Customer Service counters at the terminals will be open. The Contact Centre will be available to assist from 7 am to 9 pm at 905.874.2999.
Brampton Transit Clark and Sandalwood Facilities, including Lost and Found, will be closed from Friday, April 18 to Monday, April 21 and will re-open on Tuesday, April 22.

Brampton Parks

All City trails, playgrounds, and parks, including off-leash dog parks, remain open throughout the Easter weekend. Physical activity supports mental and physical health.

Brampton Recreation

Select City of Brampton Recreation Centres are open with modified hours during the long weekend. Recreation centres serving as advanced polling stations will remain open for voting and will offer extended hours during this time.

Brampton Library

All Brampton Library branches will be closed on April 18, April 20 and April 21. Visit your favourite branch before the holiday to stock up on books, movies, seasonal activity kits, birdwatching kits and more items to enjoy together this Easter long weekend. Brampton Animal Services

​The Brampton Animal Shelter will be closed on Good Friday and Easter Monday. Animal Services officers will be on the road throughout the day and will continue to respond to emergency calls after hours.

Also, City of Toronto activities, operations and facilities with planned openings and closures for Friday, April 18, through Monday, April 21.

Garbage collection and recycling

Drop-off depots and transfer stations will be closed on Monday, April 21. There will be regular collection service for daytime and nighttime residential and commercial customers on Friday, April 18. More information is available on the City’s Holiday Collection & Drop-Off Depot Impacts webpage.

Community centres

On Friday, April 18 and Monday, April 21, all community recreation facilities will be closed. Regularly scheduled drop-in programs and registered activities will operate on Saturday, April 19 and Sunday, April 20. The L’Amoreaux Tennis Centre will operate on regular hours on April 18 and April 21, from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. More information and schedules are available on the City’s Parks & Recreation webpage.

Inquiry and payment counters

Inquiry and payment counters at Toronto City Hall, East York Civic Centre, Etobicoke Civic Centre, North York Civic Centre, Scarborough Civic Centre and York Civic Centre will be closed from Friday, April 18 until Monday, April 21, reopening on Tuesday, April 22.

Cultural centres and art galleries

Cedar Ridge Creative Centre and Clark Centre for the Arts are closed on Friday, April 18 and Monday, April 21. The sites are open on Saturday, April 19 and Sunday, April 20, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Assembly Hall will be open on Friday, April 18, Saturday, April 19 and Monday, April 21 during regular hours.

The Etobicoke Civic Centre Art Gallery and Ascent Gallery will be closed from Friday to Monday. More information and visiting hours are available on the City’s cultural centres and art galleries webpage.

St. Lawrence Market

The St. Lawrence Market District will have modified hours of operation for the long weekend.

St. Lawrence Market South will be closed on Friday, April 18, Sunday, April 20 and Monday, April 21. It will be open on Saturday, April 19, from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The Saturday Farmers’ Market will operate during usual hours at St. Lawrence Market North on Saturday, April 19, from 5 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Zoos and farms

The Toronto Zoo will be open daily, from 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m., with residents and visitors encouraged to see popular zoo animals. More information is available on the Toronto Zoo website (opens in new window).

The High Park Animal Display will be open daily, from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Visitors should note that roads in the park will be closed to vehicular traffic on weekends and public holidays, however, several TTC routes and lines connect directly to the park. Riverdale Farm will be open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily. Admission is free. More information is available on the City’s website.

Toronto Island Park

Ferries to Ward’s Island, Centre Island and Hanlan’s Point will follow the regular spring schedule throughout the holiday weekend. The ferry schedule and access to the portal to purchase ferry tickets is available on the City’s website.

Toronto Public Library

Toronto Public Library (TPL) branches will be closed on Friday, April 18, Sunday, April 20 and Monday, April 21.

Conservatories

Allan Gardens and Centennial Park conservatories will be open daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission is free. More information about these conservatories is available on the City’s website.

Golf

Toronto History Museums
