BRAMPTON – Last night, a star-studded line up took to the ice at the CAA Centre in the second Hockey Night in Brampton. Team Gilmour led by Captain John Tavares faced off against Team Clark led by Captain Mark Giordano in a charity game with all proceeds benefitting William Osler Health System to build Brampton’s second hospital, a critical need in supporting the health and wellbeing of the overall community. The event raised a record breaking $1,000,000 for William Osler Health System Foundation and $100,000 for John Tavares Foundation, making it one of the largest charity hockey games in Canada! Thank you to the City’s generous and committed donors:
• Falcon Sidhu Family, $200,000
• Ahmadiyya Muslim Youth Association, $100,000
• National Brixen (Steeles) Partnership, $100,000
• Sutharsan and Family Holdings Ltd., $83,000
• Mehar Group of Companies, $50,000
The money raised for Osler will support the development of the new Peel Memorial hospital that will significantly expand health care for Brampton, boosting inpatient capacity by at least 40% and bringing new, specialized services to the community. Plans for the hospital include construction of a new, multi-storey patient tower with up to 350 new beds, Brampton’s second Emergency Department, as well as new and enhanced day clinics and programs. Once complete, the new Peel Memorial will be nearly the size of Osler’s Brampton Civic Hospital. The teams were stacked and the competition was tough.
