Warwick – The Ontario government is providing the Township of Warwick with up to $97,725 in provincial disaster recovery funding, to help the municipality with costs related to restoring services and repairing infrastructure damaged due to flooding in August 2023. This financial support is being provided through the Municipal Disaster Recovery Assistance (MDRA) program.
On August 23, 2023, the Township of Warwick experienced a high level of rainfall that caused flooding across the municipality. The storm resulted in damage to roads and culverts throughout Warwick and led to road closures and private property damage, which prompted Warwick to declare a state of emergency.
“Our government is proud to support our municipal partners to help them rebuild after unexpected natural disasters,” said Paul Calandra, Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing. “This funding will help Warwick recover the costs of necessary repairs to local infrastructure damaged because of the flooding.”
Ontario’s MDRA program helps municipalities address extraordinary emergency response costs as well as damage to essential property or infrastructure like bridges, roads and public buildings, as a result of a natural disaster.
