Toronto – Mayor Olivia Chow and Toronto Fire Chief Matthew Pegg celebrated the graduation of 25 Fire Inspectors from a 13-week recruit training program. TFS Fire Inspectors conduct fire safety inspections, address violations, and enforce the Ontario Fire Code (OFC), in accordance with the Fire Protection and Prevention Act (FPPA) and accompanying regulations and Ontario Fire Marshal directives. The enforcement of the OFC is the backbone of effective fire prevention and plays a critical role in reducing loss of life and property by fire in Toronto.

The 25 Fire Inspector recruits join the Toronto Fire Services (TFS) Community Risk Reduction Division, with National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) professional qualifications as Fire Inspectors and Fire and Life Safety Educators. TFS is the largest fire service in Canada, providing Toronto residents, visitors, and businesses with a suite of world-class fire protection services that includes public education, fire prevention, Ontario Fire Code enforcement, and all-hazards emergency response.

The City of Toronto is the largest city in North America with an internationally accredited fire service under the Commission on Fire Accreditation International (CFAI). To explore challenging and rewarding career opportunities with TFS, visit the City’s Toronto Fire Services Careers website.
