Fentanyl test strips can’t prevent overdose deaths

eAwazMedicine

Ontario – Fentanyl test strips can show if fentanyl was mixed with drugs, but it cannot help people most at risk of dying from an opioid overdose. Experts say one line shows that one is drug is positive for fentanyl, two lines if test is negative. Canada’s Health Infobase shows 5,360 Canadians died from opioid overdoses between January and September last year. The CDC recommends not to eat, drink, smoke, or use the bathroom while working in an area with known or suspected fentanyl. Do not touch your eyes, mouth, or nose after touching any surface potentially contaminated with fentanyl.
