Investments in critical upgrades and repairs connecting Ontarians to care, closer to home

TIMMINS — The Ontario government is investing $2 million this year through the Health Infrastructure Renewal Fund to help Timmins and District Hospital complete critical upgrades and repairs that will create a safer, more comfortable space for people and their families connecting to care and services at the hospital.

“Our government is making investments to ensure Ontario’s hospitals and community health infrastructure continue to be state-of-the-art facilities closer to home,” said Sylvia Jones, Deputy Premier and Minister of Health. “This funding will help Timmins and District Hospital address priority infrastructure needs so they can continue to provide world-class health care in the community.”

This funding is part of the government’s investment of over $208 million this year to support critical upgrades and repairs at 131 hospitals and 58 community health care facilities across the province. This funding helps Ontario’s health care system partners address urgent infrastructure renewal needs such as upgrades or replacements of roofs, windows, security systems, fire alarms and back-up generators.

As part of Your Health: A Plan for Connected and Convenient Care, the province is moving quickly to expand and modernize Ontario’s hospitals to ensure patients and their families can connect to the quality care they need, when they need it, closer to home.
