KIRKLAND – Pfizer Canada was named one of Montreal’s Top Employers for 2024 by Mediacorp Canada Inc. Pfizer has had a long-standing presence in the Greater Montreal area, providing a positive work environment and benefits offerings to its Montreal-based employees for over 70 years.
“At our core, we are about helping people live healthier lives. As Pfizer celebrates 175 years of working to make a difference to all those who rely on us, we are so pleased to recognize that Canada has been an important part of this story – especially in the Montreal area,” says Najah Sampson, President, Pfizer Canada. “It is very important to us that we provide a work environment where our employees can thrive and feel supported professionally and personally in their well-being. With so many of our Canadian employees based in the Montreal area, we work hard to make our Kirkland head office a place where colleagues can find that supportive environment.”
Colleague Wellbeing a Priority
Montreal-based employees at Pfizer benefit from the same commitment to wellbeing that other employees enjoy across the company.
Wellness benefits include both onsite and virtual wellbeing resources to allow colleagues and their families to stay healthy, such as:
An online portal with resources to help colleagues manage their physical, mental, emotional and financial wellbeing
Access to an onsite fitness centre in Kirkland, along with free dietitian, kinesiologist, and massage therapy services
Access to virtual healthcare services with 24/7 access to doctors for them and their families
Resources for confidential support via our Employee and Family Assistance Program
Additional caregiver benefits for child and elder care
Pfizer also has many initiatives designed to help inspire engagement among employees including Bravo, a peer recognition program that rewards colleagues for exceptional behaviors and contributions that exemplify Pfizer’s core values.
“Our core values are simple and interconnected: courage, excellence, equity, and joy. These values are only possible when we ensure that all our colleagues feel welcome to bring their full selves to work and feel supported at every step of their Pfizer journey,” says Laura Larbalestier, Vice-President, People Experience, Pfizer Canada. “We work hard to translate those values into a healthy, engaged and highly collaborative workplace. For an organization wholly committed to the wellbeing of others, it is critical to in turn offer our colleagues an environment that supports their wellness and success.”
Integrating Social Purpose into Our Work in Montreal
Pfizer has been a long-standing contributor to the local Montreal community. More than ever, Pfizer colleagues are conscious about their social impact and how they can contribute to society as part of their professional careers. To help close the health equity gap and create lasting social impact, Pfizer Canada works alongside partners, patients, and advocates in the community to provide our expertise and resources – including people, products, and funding. The company activates colleague giving and volunteerism, mobilizes disaster and humanitarian response and develops impactful social partnerships to help underserved communities and support our value of equity.
In 2023, the company has continued significant partnerships with front-line community organizations in Montreal, including Centraide ̸ United Way, West Island Community Shares, the Teresa Dellar Palliative Care Residence, the Lakeshore Hospital Foundation, Fondation CHU Sainte-Justine and the Montreal Children’s Hospital Foundation, among many others. Employees are also encouraged to volunteer their time with community organizations and supported in doing so.
For the first time in 2023, the company planted a community garden at the Kirkland head office, where 208 kilograms of vegetables were grown, harvested, and donated to West Island Mission, a local food bank working to fight food insecurity in the region.
