The protest organized by the Balochistan National Party (BNP) under the leadership of Sardar Akhtar Mengal at Lak Pass in Mastung entered its ninth day, with no progress in negotiations between the government delegation and Akhtar Mengal.
Sardar Akhtar Mengal received a call from Speaker of the National Assembly, Ayaz Sadiq. Speaking to the media about the call, Mengal stated, “We presented our demands to Ayaz Sadiq, and he assured us that he would raise the matter with the Prime Minister.”
Mengal further stated that female members of the Balochistan Assembly had come to him, and he raised the issue of releasing the detained women in front of them.
He added that if their demands were not met, they would hold a peaceful march towards Quetta tomorrow.
On the other hand, Balochistan government spokesman Shahid Rand said that BNP would not be allowed to protest in the Red Zone of Quetta.
In Quetta, after a four-day suspension, mobile phone and internet services were restored but were once again shut down today.
Meanwhile, an emergency was imposed at the District Headquarters Hospital in Mastung. According to the Medical Superintendent (MS), the emergency will remain in effect from April 6 to April 8, and all leaves of doctors, nurses, paramedics, and other staff members have been canceled.
