Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi meets UN Under-Secretary-General for Peacekeeping, Jean-Pierre Lacroix

Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi welcomed the United Nations Under-Secretary-General for Peacekeeping Operations, Jean-Pierre Lacroix, at the Ministry of Interior.

Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry, Interior Secretary Muhammad Khurram Agha, and UN Secretary-General’s Advisor Faisal Shahkar were also present during the meeting.

The two sides discussed ways to further strengthen cooperation between Pakistan and the UN in peacekeeping missions.

Mohsin Naqvi reaffirmed Pakistan’s unwavering support for UN peacekeeping efforts, saying the country remains committed to contributing to global peace.

He highlighted the commendable role played by Pakistan’s military and police officers in various UN missions, showcasing skill and dedication.

Naqvi pointed out that after several years, Pakistani police officers have resumed their duties in UN peacekeeping operations.

Currently, a number of Pakistani officers are serving in different UN missions worldwide.

He assured that Pakistan would continue to provide full support to UN peacekeeping operations in the future.

Naqvi expressed pride that a Pakistani officer is currently heading the UN Police division.

He emphasized the importance of using modern technology to make UN peace missions more effective.

Naqvi also offered the UN the opportunity to conduct regional training courses for peacekeeping at Pakistan’s National Police Academy.

He stated that the academy is being restructured to meet international standards, with all modern facilities being made available for professional training.

In line with the UN gender policy, equal opportunities are being ensured for women in Pakistan’s police service.

Jean-Pierre Lacroix appreciated Mohsin Naqvi’s personal efforts in reinstating Pakistani police officers in UN peacekeeping roles.

He acknowledged the vital role of UN peace missions, even in challenging environments, to maintain global peace.
