BROSSARD – The Réseau express métropolitain (REM), Montreal’s new light-rail transit system shut down unexpectedly yesterday that was its first official opening day. About 120,000 people rode it free of charge over the weekend. A REM spokesperson informed of a switching problem on the tracks that shut down service early morning but was resumed later.
