With only 10 days remaining until election day, advance polling will commence on Friday nationwide for those wishing to vote prior to April 28.
Registered voters may cast their early ballots at their designated polling stations from April 18 to April 21, between the hours of 9 a.m. and 9 p.m.
The voter information card, which registered voters should have received by mail by April 11, will indicate the location of their assigned polling station for advance voting. (Please note that your polling station on election day may differ from this location.)
Registered voters can also locate their advance polling station online or contact Elections Canada at 1-800-463-6868 for assistance.
In contrast to provincial elections, where voters can choose any polling station within their province, federal elections require voters to cast their ballots at their assigned stations.
Additionally, voters have the option to vote by mail or in person using a special ballot at their nearest Elections Canada office until 6 p.m. on April 22. If you are uncertain about your registration status, you can verify it through Elections Canada’s online voter registration service.
Elections Canada provides information for individuals voting under special circumstances, including those who are homeless, incarcerated, or residing in long-term care facilities.
To minimize wait times, it is advisable to avoid advance polling stations during peak hours, which are typically busiest from 10 a.m. to noon, and again from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., with traffic generally easing after that.
Earlier this month, Elections Canada reported that 130,000 Canadians had already voted using special ballots, which are available for those who prefer not to wait until election day or advance polling.
